Liam Zhu

Liam Zhu, started his career as a trademark attorney from 1987 when he joined CCPIT Patent and Trademark Law Office in Beijing. From 1993 to 1998, he was sent by the said firm to the United States to establish and manage two offices one of which was in San Francisco and the other in New York City for the firm. In 1999, he, together with two other partners, founded RDT Patent and Trademark Law Office, which later changed to be known as Boss & Young.

In almost 25 years of practicing in the area of IP laws, he has accumulated profound knowledge in both prosecutions and litigations covering trademarks, copyrights, and domain names, etc. Liam has also been involved in numerous trademark enforcement actions with the AIC, the court and the Custom Office.

He has been an active speaker in international conferences and has been invited for 4 times as the sole speaker on trademark protections in China by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to speak to US trademark owners and lawyers in the program USPTO China Roadshow in Atlanta (March, 2006), Kansas City (September, 2007), Washington DC (April, 2011) and Denver (November, 2012). Liam has had the honor to be invited by the US Embassy in Beijing as the only IP attorney to attend a Breakfast Meeting together with the Under Secretary of the United States to discuss issues regarding IP protections in China on March 16, 2011. Liam is fluent in both English and Chinese.
